The Night before

We haven’t been there, we haven’t done it but we got the shirt!

Over 520 boats are registered to do America’s Great Loop this year, many listed here.  Can you find Flying Colors?

Here’s a short video clip on “The Loop” we thought you might enjoy:

I’ve said my goodbyes, I’ve gotten over the days of being sad about leaving, and now the excitement begins. (and the anxiety of what’s unknown to come) The Southwards, friends from the yacht club, are joining us until Dubuque, IA and won’t let us turn back!

The kids came to the boat for the last supper and we walked through Afton appreciating it all. As we write this there’s less than 12 hours before departure.

Our first stop is Wabasha, MN.

We’ll keep you in the loop.

  1. Nancy, what an amazing journey you guys are embarking on. Both Jay and I are excited to be following you. I looked at the map and you guys will be going right by our house on the intercostal waterway. Please let us know when you will be in our area, we would love to connect with you. Safe travels!

  2. I saw you both on the river on your way to Park Side Marina. Your first day. You were just south of Lake Pepin near Reads Landing. I was headed upriver into Lake Pepin. We live on the river at Pepin, WI up on a bluff on two acres. Used to live in Stillwater and have spent much time on the St. Croix, Mississippi and intracoastal in Florida. I met very few boats when I was out there that weekday. I remembered the name of your friends boat “Penalty Box” I recall seeing your two boats together where Lake Pepin narrows. Delighted to be following you. What an adventure. We have a cabin on Lake Michigan and I have boated on and am familiar with many of the areas you will be traveling in. But to do “The Loop” is just fantastic! I wish you lots of fun and adventure and most of all safe travels. I found you through a post/reply with link in a Facebook group.
