I explored every option to find a dock around Muscatine. Finally got ok from the city to use river side dock that looked good on google earth. After a long day we got in site of it and it was a mess. Most was on land due to the low water. Two teenagers warned us away saying it was too shallow. I believed them. We would barely fit anyways.
Between the wing dams. So no choice but to anchor in Rick Peterson’s recommended spot on opposite bank below the bridge. I liked that the water seems deep close to shore, my aqua map app had some soundings in the area. We position outside the channel and drop the “ok, it’s for the loop” $2400 65 lb ultra anchor. Put out 140 feet of chain, a mantus bridal, set the anchor alarms, the wind dies down more than forecast and this ain’t so bad!
I did celebrate with one light martini, and Nancy whipped up some food, and then the bridge lit up casting a beatiful glow on our spot.
So the scary night is so far a somewhat magical one.

Looks like a great start!

Glad your anchor night went well. Beautiful pictures. How far apart were the wing dams? 140’ of anchor line in 18’ dept is certainly adequate 😂
