Our story

Well we’ve often been asked why we wanted to do the loop. I guess the easiest answer is that we can. It’s not easy to have your work, your health, and your house all lined up to do this trip, but we caught the love of cruising back in 2008 when we brought our 40 foot Silverton from New Buffalo, Michigan to the St. Croix river the thousand miles by water and the idea became real. We attended AGLCA fall rendezvous in 2016 and really caught a vision for it. We’ve been planning ever since, starting with the search for the next Flying Colors. We searched five states: Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota, finally finding it right in our own neighborhood in Bayport, MN. We loved our Silverton, but we’re excited to make our Meridian 441 home for the next year.

Some people think we’re crazy doing this, and sometimes we think we are as well. Only 120 boats on average finish the loop each year, less than the amount that summit Mt. Everest. We hope to finish, but more important is who we meet along the way, what we see, and how we grow along the way.
