Day 4: Guttenberg to Dubuque

Curt and Marjorie led today, last day of traveling with our friends before they head back upstream on Monday, and we go the other way (at least that is the plan)

More marshes today at times felt like we were traveling in a swamp – but the scenery was great. We had time to have breakfast in town today, an eclectic spot called The Fish Shack right on the river. See the picture on how the old timer labeled the trash receptacles. The classic car show was in town and curt and Marjorie loved that.

Turns out friend chris Houdek was checking out his new to him Bluewater just a dinghy ride away from our Dubuque Ice Harbor dock so we cruised over and saw the giddy captain and his new boat. We all went to dinner at catfish Charlie’s. A beautiful night with an almost full moon.

This is our first big milestone to make it here to Dubuque. Tomorrow we have a no travel day.
