Day 5: stayed in Dubuque

Our rest day ended up busy. Three more great loopers stopped by to chat. Took 90 minutes to pump in 225 gallons of diesel. Gas dock was slammed as many marinas have low water but Dubuque harbor is deep.

Then we spent enjoyable afternoon at the River Museum, then I washed down the boat some and checked the engines, listened to some of the Vikings game. Then an Italian feast of a dinner with a bottle of Josh cab for our last night with the Southwards before they head north and we head south tomorrow morning.

Having a tough time figuring where to stay this week several marinas are too shallow. I’m told to anchor in a great spot between two wing dams on Tuesday night by Muscatine. We’ll see!

Would you anchor for the night in this spot?

  1. Having grown up in Iowa, it was fun to hear about areas you passed by in Iowa. I did not note stories of the Quad Cities where I attended college in Rock Island. Your photography and descriptions are interesting and fun. You look so happy
