Day 6: Dubuque to Clinton, Iowa

Curt and Marjorie came to our boat at 7:15am with a card and nice bottle of wine to send us off on the next 6,750 miles of our trip. As planned, they turned north and we turned south out of Ice Harbor, each on our own now.

I was not happy when our last lock of the day said it would be 1 hour 45 minutes to get a tow through, I knew a storm front was coming, and our destination marina, the only good option in the area, was not calling us back, and I had reason to believe it might be too shallow.

Nancy was taking it in stride so I just said to myself this is what I signed up for so chill out.

We got through the lock, and a very boater friendly lady (jean) did answer her phone and guided us into a great slip and a margarita was in order!

The storm is approaching as I write this. But we are well tied up in this slip. Southwards are also in good spot in Guttenberg. There was a unique outdoor exercise area here so I got a work out in. Tomorrow night we face the prospect of that anchorage between the two wing dams.

Clinton Marina (highly recommended for slip and fuel)
