Gold Coast

We’re crusing the Gold Coast of Florida, which is the region from Miami to West Palm Beach, named because of the reference to the wealth and ritzy tropical lifestyle that characterizes the area. As we travel down the Intercoastal waterway, we found this to be true, more beautiful mansions, more megayachts and yes, more bridges but none we had to open. So it was a carefree crusing day, put her on autopilot, stay in the channel and keep an eye out for dolphins. We arrived in North Palm Beach at the Safe Harbor Marina. We’ve stayed at other Safe Harbor Marinas, but this is their flagship property. They have renovated their docks, remodeled their facilities to include a beautiful new office and restaurant as well as a new fitness room, which is nicer than our Lifetime Fitness at home with state of the art cardio and weight equiment and Pelotons.

We were welcomed with not one but two bottles of their “private label” wine.

We enjoyed the bottle of white in our souvenir Marathon Yacht Club glasses.
New floating docks at Old Port Cove North Palm Beach, a very nice neighborhood.
We try to “save” our meals out for social ocassions or special places. Nancy’s request was we eat lunch at the Breakers Hotel in West Palm. So we took an Uber and were “wowed” by this beautiful property. The place has been beautifully restored and maintained and takes you back to that place in time when Henry Flager built it.
We toured The Flagler Museum, summer home of Henry Flager. This home was built in 8 months as a wedding present to his third wife. Built as a type of museum, the house is still home to beautiful art, artifacts and collectibles. It’s purpose was to educate the guests of the Flaglers and also serve as way to show refined America has become.
The fun just never ends, we even hosted a a Docktales on Flying Colors with “Helluva Life” and “Jackpot” before my son, Brad arrived.
